Lecturers at the University of Jos have embarked on an indefinite strike over the non-payment of their March 2026 salary.
The Chairman of the institution’s branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Professor Jurbe Molwus, confirmed the development in an interview with The PUNCH in Jos on Wednesday. He added that the industrial action took effect from Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
In a statement circulated to lecturers and signed by the ASUU UNIJOS chairperson, the union expressed disappointment over the delay in salary payment, blaming the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation. The union said findings indicated that the delay was caused by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, noting that the university’s bursary had completed its part of the salary process.
ASUU also urged members to fully comply with the directive, warning that a strike monitoring team would be activated to ensure adherence.
